Rating: Brief: Would be better without the spinner Comment: I ordered two different sight word bingo games; the other was much better. Since this game uses a spinner to call the words, you can keep getting the same word over and over which gets old quickly. The other game, which I ordered from Oriental Trading, has more player cards and more sight words (100). Most importantly, since it uses word cards, the words called do not repeat and it is easy to verify that a marked word has been called. It was also less expensive. I normally love Learning Resources products, but this one falls short.
Rating: Brief: Educational and fun at the same time Comment: My son is learning his sight words and this product caught my eye. It's great because has it helped him to recognize these words over and over again, and it encourages the concepts of taking turns and patience. And of course, as with any game, it's a great addition to family time. But the best thing is, he's having so much fun trying to get the words that it doesn't feel like schoolwork.
From an editor of children's educational product
Rating: Brief: entertaining while it teaches Comment: My son has autism, and is having a hard time learning to read. I bought just about every single "sight word" and "phonics" product out there. This one is among the best. He even plays it by himself, then copies the word. A parent's dream come true?...
and very inexpensive compared to the "special education" I bought, that did about the same thing. A good value.
For beginners.
